Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t know which one to apply to – what is the difference between the Community Agriculture Grant and the Rooted in Communities Endowment Fund?
The Rooted in Communities Endowment fund is for fund/product asks of less than $3,000.00, such as silent auctions, event sponsorships, or community initiatives or programs.

The Community Agriculture Grant is available for agricultural projects, community programs, and agriculture facility enhancements seeking $10,000 or more in funding.  We are looking for applications that aim to enhance and support the community where you live and work.

How much funding is available with the Community Agriculture Grant?
Up to $100,000.00.  You must outline the amount you are requesting in your application. You can apply for any amount from $10,000.00 up to $100,000.00.

What is the Application Deadline for this Grant?
May 31st, 2024 at 11:59pm – no exceptions. Grant applications must be fully completed to be considered.

What type of projects would NOT be eligible?

  • Advertising/Marketing Expenses
  • Debit Retirement
  • Significant structural infrastructure (eg. arenas, barns, playgrounds)
  • Projects that cannot be completed within two (2) years of funding being awarded

Do we have to include a video?
Yes, applications without a video component will not be considered for funding. Embrace this requirement! Oftentimes, words on the page cannot fully express the vision of the project.

What should we include in the video?
Include things like:
  • An introduction of any of the speakers appearing in the video.
  • The name of your organization and initiative.
  • An overview of the initiative including start and end dates if applicable.
  • What need(s) you will address through this initiative and how the need was identified.
  • Whether this need is already being addressed, in full or in part. If so, what does your project/initiative add in terms of further supporting the need. Also if so, by whom?
  • Why now is the right time to take on this initiative.
  • How your program/project works to address the need in a new way.
  • The timeline for completion of the proposed  project.
  • A description of the stages of the project, including identifying when and where funds from the Community Agriculture Grant will be used.
  • Specific benefits that this project will bring to your community.

When do you begin your application review?
The application review process will begin on June 1st, 2024 – once the application grant period has closed on May 31st.

When could I expect to hear an update on the status of the review and/or winners?
The timeline varies based on the number of applications submitted.  In past years, this process has taken anywhere from 12 to 20 weeks. Please note that ALL applicants – both those being granted the funds and those who were not ultimately successful this year – will be notified via email once the review is complete and the winners chosen.

If we are grant winners, when can we expect to receive the awarded funds?
This timeline can vary based on the number of applications submitted.  In past years, funds have typically been dispersed in October or early November.

The Community Agriculture Grant opens annually for submission on March 1st, and the deadline for applications is May 31st, 2024.
